The solo bottleneck

Chasing payments feels personal when you are the whole company.

This guide is part of a free series: 50 useful automations for people running the business alone. Download the printable PDF anytime: Free PDF — Send invoice reminders without awkward chase emails.

Stack that stays small

Stripe Invoicing or QuickBooks + automated dunning emails.

Tools named here: Stripe, QuickBooks, Zapier. Prefer official docs and native features before adding another SaaS.

Ship the automation

Turn on Stripe automatic reminders or QuickBooks payment reminders.

Standardize due terms (Net 7 / Net 14) so reminders stay consistent.

Add a Zap: invoice paid → Slack/email to you + thank-you to client.

Escalate only after two soft reminders — then a short human note.

Keep it honest

Polite automation collects more than guilt. Keep the copy short and factual.

Automations should reduce decisions and errors — not hide broken processes. If a Zap fails weekly, fix the process or delete the Zap.
