The solo bottleneck

Solo founders remember to follow up once — then ghost their own pipeline.

This guide is part of a free series: 50 useful automations for people running the business alone. Download the printable PDF anytime: Free PDF — Follow up with prospects on autopilot.

Stack that stays small

Light sequencer or CRM tasks with templates.

Tools named here: Lemlist, Gmail, HubSpot. Prefer official docs and native features before adding another SaaS.

Ship the automation

Write a 5-email sequence: value, proof, offer, soft bump, break-up.

Stop-on-reply is mandatory — never nag someone who answered.

Limit to people who opted in or had a real conversation.

Review reply rate weekly; rewrite the weakest email.

Keep it honest

Personal first line beats fancy tools. Merge fields are not personalization.

Automations should reduce decisions and errors — not hide broken processes. If a Zap fails weekly, fix the process or delete the Zap.
