The solo bottleneck
Status emails feel like unpaid writing assignments.
This guide is part of a free series: 50 useful automations for people running the business alone. Download the printable PDF anytime: Free PDF — Ship weekly client status without writing from scratch.
Stack that stays small
Task DB + Friday template + optional Loom.
Tools named here: Notion, Zapier, Loom. Prefer official docs and native features before adding another SaaS.
Ship the automation
Track work in one place with Done this week / Next / Blockers.
Friday Zap or script dumps those fields into an email draft.
Add a 2-minute Loom only when something needs showing.
Send by a fixed time so clients stop chasing you.
Keep it honest
Predictable quiet is luxury. Same day, same format, every week.
Automations should reduce decisions and errors — not hide broken processes. If a Zap fails weekly, fix the process or delete the Zap.
